KINGS 2, BOOK OF

This document is a historical narrative of a period of about 270 years, from the time of Jehoshaphat's death, to the fall of Jerusalem, when Judah's final group was taken into Babylonian captivity -- and even slightly beyond (2 Kgs. 25:27). The book tells of the closing days of Elijah the prophet, and his successor, Elisha. It chronicles the Assyrian conquest of Israel, and the overall history of the nation between the Assyrian invasion (722/21 B.C.) and the fall of Jerusalem (586 B.C.).
