DENOMINATION

Where Can We Read About Different Denominations in the Bible?
A religious denomination is a body or sect subscribing to a particular set of doctrinal tenets that is set apart from other religious groups by its name and human creed.

Denominations find no divine sanction in the New Testament. They represent a departure from the pristine Christianity of the first century (2 Thes. 2:1ff; 1 Tim. 4:1ff; 2 Tim. 4:1ff).

Historically, denominations emerged with the development of Catholicism (Roman and Greek branches) and the subsequent evolution of Protestantism.

Over the centuries, thousands of sincere people have left their denominations to return to the apostles' doctrine (Acts 2:42) in both teaching and practice.
