RUTH, BOOK OF

The book of Ruth has to do with a godly Moabite woman, Ruth by name, who joined herself to the Hebrew people during the days of the judges. She was a widow who married an Israelite by the name of Boaz. She became the great-grandmother of David, hence, was an ancestress of Jesus Christ. As a Gentile, she represents a preview of the international nature of the Lord's kingdom. The book covers a span of about ten years during the early era of the judges.
