Progressively Aggressive “Gay” Movement, The

The so-called “Gay” movement in America is becoming increasingly aggressive. While Christians must exhibit kindness to all, moral principle cannot be compromised.

Former Congressman Bill Dannemeyer will not win any popularity contests in San Francisco. His book, Shadow in the Land — Homosexuality in America, has been fiercely attacked by the “Gay” constituency. In this explosive volume, Dannemeyer charges that our nation “is faced with the gravest epidemic in modern times,” namely AIDS, and that the homosexual community (characterized by an extreme degree of promiscuity) is mostly responsible for this plague. The author further suggests that the so-called “gay” movement is probably the most well-organized, well-disciplined pressure group in the nation.

The homosexual lobby is flexing its muscles in virtually every compartment of society — government, domestic, educational, etc. From the founding of the thirteen colonies until 1961, Sodomy was a violation of the law; during the last forty years, however, the moral fabric of the legal system has begun to unravel in a rapid and frightening way.

The congressman addressed this issue from several vantage points.

First, he raises the issue of what “causes” homosexuality. He vehemently opposes the notion that there is a “gay gene” that directs a person toward perversity. That idea has been around for several years and it has become very popular. More and more research, however, is demonstrating it to be false — as even some homosexual advocates acknowledge.

For example, Simon LeVay, who has studied the differences between the brains of homosexuals and heterosexuals, protests that his work has been misrepresented:

“I didn’t show that gay men are born that way, the most common mistake people make in interpreting my work. Nor did I locate a gay center in the brain.”

Camille Paglia, a lesbian activist, has stated:

“No one is born gay. The idea is ridiculous. Homosexuality is an adaptation, not an inborn trait.”

For more information on this aspect of homosexuality, see: National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (“NARTH”).

Second, Dannemeyer protests the ever-growing tendency of the government to legitimize the homosexual agenda as a “minority” issue. Many people have “bought into” that bogus line, and prominent, national figures are lending their influence to it. Coretta King, in a speech to a “gay” group, said: “I am here tonight to express my solidarity with the gay and lesbian community in your struggle for civil and human rights in America and around the world.”

Dannemeyer also warns that homosexual propaganda is infiltrating the curriculum of our public school system at an alarming pace. The “Gay” forces are attempting to smuggle homo-ideology into virtually every type of course where such is remotely feasible.

The ex-congressman also calls attention to the shocking invasion of homosexuality into the religious environment. Progressively, mainline religions are permitting gay and lesbian “clergy” to be “ordained.” Many religious leaders do not hesitate to perform “marriages” for homosexual couples (though there is no moral or legal basis for such). Already, gays and lesbians may adopt children. There is mounting pressure at various governmental levels to legalize homosexual “marriages.” Many corporations are granting “spousal” benefits to those enmeshed in perverted sexual lifestyles. Increasingly, the “buzz” words undergirding this movement are: “choice,” “preference,” “tolerance,” “culture,” etc.

Christians must ever have a loving disposition towards all. Homosexuals need the power of the gospel in their lives — to effect the needed changes. At the same time, though, we must uncompromisingly affirm: This will not pass! Homosexuality is a moral evil, and we will oppose this sin without yielding any ground.
