JOSHUA, BOOK OF

This book contains the record of Israel's conquest of the land of Canaan. The leader of the campaign was Joshua, who substantially took the land in three military invasions -- first, the central region, then the south, and finally the north. The document thus pictures the fulfillment of the land promise that Jehovah had made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The book covers about thirty years of Israel's history -- from the death of Moses to the death of Joshua.
