A response to The Jesus Seminar, as featured by the Peter Jennings ABC special, In Search of Jesus

Jesus once spoke of an “eternal” sin, for which there is no forgiveness. What was that sin? Can it be committed today?

The Bible frequently speaks of the “reading” of the Scriptures, and even the reading of them aloud. Is this mere circumstance, or is there a deeper truth implied in these descriptives?

A preacher or teacher must accept the heavy responsibility the Scriptures lay upon that role. His audience also has a responsibility—to test his message, whether or not it is from God.

The attributes of God are wonderful thoughts on which to meditate.

Words are vehicles of information; even the smallest words can be packed with meaning. Such is the case with the term “must.” Often overlooked; more often ignored, this important word must be studied carefully.

Have you ever heard or read a statement that made you wonder how it ever could have been conceived? For example Bill O’Reilly, Fox News guru, said on national television that “the Catholic Church invented marriage” (WorldNetDaily, 2/10/2010). How does anyone that obtuse deserve a national audience? But he is not alone. Consider a few more quotes that are “simply outrageous.”

There are always been those, both without and within the church of Jesus Christ, who have attempted to weaken and compromise the gospel of Christ. Such antagonists must ever be identified and rebuffed.

Is the gospel still sufficient for church growth? Are modern gimmicks necessary to attract bigger crowds?
